There is no single best BOPIS app for every Shopify store. The right pick depends on your location count, your mixed-cart volume, whether you need scheduled delivery, and how much theme dev time you want to spend. This roundup covers the apps worth shortlisting in 2026, what each is genuinely good at, and where each falls short — including ours.
Frame this as a starting shortlist, not a verdict. Trial the two or three that map closest to your constraints, then decide.
How we framed this roundup
We are the team behind BopiSafe, so this is not a neutral source. To keep it credible:
- BopiSafe is included in the list, but not positioned as #1. We have placed it where its strengths and weaknesses actually fit.
- Every app gets its honest strengths called out, including the apps we compete with directly.
- We avoid fabricated specifics. Where we do not know an exact price, install count, or rating, we describe the tier the app sits in rather than inventing numbers.
- The comparison table covers feature areas, not star ratings, because feature fit matters more than aggregate scores.
If you find an inaccuracy, email us and we will fix it.
The shortlist
Five apps worth evaluating in 2026, in alphabetical order:
- Amai Local Pickup, Delivery — budget-friendly, broad feature set, mature
- Bopple Local Pickup & Delivery — strong local-delivery focus, well-regarded in food retail
- BopiSafe — Functions-native, focused on mixed-cart and pickup-only enforcement
- Pickup Delivery Date — Pickeasy — scheduled pickup and delivery time slots
- Zapiet — Pickup + Delivery — the established incumbent, widest feature surface
A few apps you may see ranked elsewhere — Stocky, Inventory Planner, Katana — are inventory apps, not pickup apps. See our BopiSafe vs Stocky writeup for why they get confused with this category.
Feature comparison table
This table is based on publicly available app listing information at time of writing. Treat it as a starting filter, not a final answer.
| App | Pickup at checkout | Mixed-cart split | Scheduled time slots | Functions-based | Per-location capacity | Tier positioning |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amai Local Pickup, Delivery | Yes | Limited | Yes | Mixed | Yes | Budget |
| Bopple Local Pickup & Delivery | Yes | Limited | Yes | Mixed | Yes | Mid-tier |
| BopiSafe | Yes | Real native checkouts | No | Fully | Yes | Mid-tier |
| Pickeasy | Yes | Limited | Yes (mature) | Mixed | Yes | Mid-tier |
| Zapiet — Pickup + Delivery | Yes | Draft-order workflow | Yes (mature) | Mixed (newer installs) | Yes | Premium |
Competitor feature cells above (for example the “Limited” mixed-cart and “mature” scheduled-delivery marks) are based on publicly available App Store listings as of 2026 — verify each on the app’s own listing before you decide.
“Mixed” under Functions-based means part of the enforcement runs in Functions and part runs in theme JavaScript or app-proxy fallbacks. Pure Functions-based enforcement is more robust against Shop Pay and Apple Pay edge cases.
Zapiet — Pickup + Delivery
The category incumbent. Has been on the Shopify App Store for years, with the largest install base in the pickup space and the broadest feature surface — pickup, scheduled local delivery, rate zones, blackout dates, deep theme customization.
Strengths: scheduled local delivery is mature and well-supported. Rate-by-zone is mature. Documentation and onboarding are thorough. Integrates with most major themes and a long tail of third-party apps. If you need every pickup-and-delivery feature in one tool, this is the most complete option.
Weaknesses: premium-tier pricing typical of the established pickup market; the surface area is wide enough that misconfiguration is common; older installs carry theme code that can interact with Shop Pay and Apple Pay in awkward ways; mixed-cart handling traditionally relies on a draft-order workflow that loses the express-checkout payment path.
Best fit: multi-location stores that need scheduled delivery alongside pickup, can afford premium pricing, and have the operational maturity to configure and maintain the wider surface area. For deeper detail see BopiSafe vs Zapiet.
BopiSafe
Newer app built as complete multi-location BOPIS — real-time per-store stock, in-cart store picker, and automatic split checkout when a cart mixes fulfillment types (grouped by pickup, local delivery, and shipping, each its own native checkout). Built entirely on Shopify Functions; no theme widget, no JS overlay.
Strengths: real-time per-store stock in an in-cart picker with the chosen store locked into native checkout, so the shopper collects from the store they actually picked and the order can’t be silently rerouted; a cart mixing a pickup-only item with a ship-only one splits into real native Shopify checkouts, preserving Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay; Functions-based enforcement survives express-checkout entry points; per-location capacity and drift blocking; lower ongoing maintenance; mid-tier pricing.
Weaknesses: no scheduled local delivery; rate-by-zone is limited; newer in the market, fewer third-party integrations than Zapiet.
Best fit: mobile-heavy stores where mixed carts and Shop Pay completion matter, multi-location stores needing capacity and drift blocking. Not the right fit where scheduled delivery windows are the core need.
Bopple Local Pickup & Delivery
Well-regarded mid-tier app with a particular strength in local delivery and a meaningful install base in food and beverage retail. Supports both pickup and delivery with scheduling.
Strengths: mature scheduled-delivery flow, strong fit for prepared food and grocery merchants, clean UI on the storefront, reasonable pricing for the feature set.
Weaknesses: mixed-cart handling is less developed than the apps focused on that problem; feature surface around capacity and per-location rules is solid but not exceptional; some integrations are food-retail-flavoured in ways that may not generalise.
Best fit: food, beverage, prepared meals, florists, and other categories where local delivery scheduling and pickup overlap heavily. Less of a fit for stores whose pickup is hardgoods retail without a delivery scheduling need.
Amai Local Pickup, Delivery
Budget-tier app with broad feature coverage. Has been on the App Store for a long time and serves a large base of small and mid-size merchants.
Strengths: low entry pricing, broad coverage of pickup and delivery basics, easy to install and configure, accessible to non-technical merchants.
Weaknesses: enforcement depth in advanced cases (mixed carts, drift, multi-location capacity) is less than the focused tools; some surfaces rely on theme integration rather than pure Functions; reviews suggest support response time can vary.
Best fit: smaller stores starting their first BOPIS rollout on a tight budget, single-location stores with simple pickup needs, merchants who want a working baseline before deciding whether to invest in a premium tool.
Pickeasy
Specialised in scheduled pickup and delivery time slots. Strong configuration around date pickers, blackout days, and slot capacity.
Strengths: scheduled slot management is a clear focus area and the configuration is deeper than most general-purpose pickup apps; good fit for businesses that fulfill on time-bound slots; reasonable pricing.
Weaknesses: narrower coverage outside scheduling — capacity and mixed-cart handling are functional but not exceptional; smaller install base than Zapiet, so fewer third-party integrations.
Best fit: bakeries, prepared-food retailers, salons, rental businesses, and anyone whose pickup operation runs on time slots rather than rolling daily caps.
How do you actually pick a BOPIS app?
Run through these filters in order. Each one collapses your shortlist quickly.
Filter 1: Do you need scheduled time slots?
If yes, narrow to Zapiet, Pickeasy, or Bopple depending on your category and budget. BopiSafe and Amai are not the right fit.
Filter 2: Multi-location — do you need per-store stock and a store choice that sticks at checkout?
If you run 2+ physical stores, your shoppers need to see which store has each item live and choose where to collect — and that choice has to be locked into checkout (store-lock), not just shown, so the order isn’t silently rerouted to another location. This filter elevates apps that put per-store stock, the in-cart picker, and store-lock at the center rather than treating multi-location as a settings page.
Filter 3: Do mixed carts matter?
If customers add a pickup-only item next to a ship-only one — a line that ships from a warehouse, a 3PL, or a supplier direct, where there’s nothing at the store to collect — that cart has no single method that fits it. Prioritise apps that handle it as real native checkouts rather than via draft orders. BopiSafe splits it into real native orders. Zapiet handles it but typically through the draft-order workflow.
Filter 4: Is Shop Pay / Apple Pay a meaningful share of your revenue?
If yes, prioritise Functions-based enforcement. Pure-Functions apps preserve express checkout. Theme-overlay apps can leak. This filter elevates BopiSafe and newer Zapiet installs.
Filter 5: How sensitive are you to ongoing maintenance?
If your team is small and you do not want to debug theme overlays, prioritise apps with no theme widget. Functions-only apps win on this dimension.
Filter 6: What is your budget tolerance?
Premium-tier apps cost more but cover more features. Budget-tier apps cover fewer features but get you a working baseline. Mid-tier apps trade off in different directions. Map your tier to the features you actually need, not the features you might need someday.

The Shopify App Store listings
Every app in this roundup is on the Shopify App Store. For canonical descriptions, current pricing, and review history, go directly to the listing pages. App listings include a “Demo store” link for many apps that lets you see the storefront flow before installing.
For the platform-side capabilities each app builds on, the Shopify developer documentation covers Shopify Functions and the underlying checkout primitives. Useful background even if you are buying rather than building.
What should you test in the first week of a trial?
Regardless of which app you trial, run this checklist before deciding:
- Install in a development store or staging duplicate first
- Configure pickup at each location and tag two products as pickup-only
- Run a test cart with only a pickup-only item — confirm shipping is hidden
- Run a test cart with only a shippable item — confirm pickup is hidden (unless the product also allows pickup)
- Run a mixed cart and observe what the app does — split, block, or force
- Test the same scenarios via Shop Pay and Apple Pay express checkout — many bugs only show up here
- Set a per-location capacity cap to 1, place an order, place a second order, confirm the second is blocked
- Place a pickup order, then drop inventory to zero in Admin, then try to place another pickup order for the same SKU — confirm the app blocks the unfulfillable second order
If any test fails, that is your answer. Pickup that breaks at edge cases erodes customer trust faster than no pickup at all.
